Forgiveness

Kyle Kauffman // Feb 20 2022

Forgiveness is so central to Christianity that we can easily forget what a wonder it is that we are forgiven. Jesus’s first words on the cross open our eyes to see our own sinful depravity and God’s glorious grace. We see humans who gleefully and mercilessly kill the Son of God as they blindly fail to grasp the weight of their deeds. And yet we see the depth of God’s love and mercy on display as he pays the cost for our sin and prays that his enemies might be forgiven. As we grasp the wonder and beauty of this forgiveness, it should lead us to worship and love God, to find freedom from guilt over our sins, to pray for the forgiveness of others, and to be quick to extend grace and forgiveness to others.
