In Joshua 8-9 we find two stories that in some sense contrast with each other. They give us a picture both of what it means to be wise and what it means to be foolish. We live in a day and age that is full of knowledge and yet many times is lacking in wisdom. Wisdom and folly perhaps not even words we us in our vocabulary anymore. And yet these are two words that are at the core of what it means to be human as God designed us to be and to live well in the world that He has created. What does wisdom look like and how do we grow in wisdom? What does folly look like and how can we easily fall into foolishness in our lives? These are questions that Joshua 8-9 helps us to answer so that might know, trust, and imitate the very God who is Wisdom.
