Closing Time

We do not live in 1st century Corinth like the people Paul was writing to in this letter. We live in 21st century America where there are both surprising similarities and significant differences to the church and culture in 1st century Corinth. We have seen both of those as we’ve walked through this letter. Perhaps one of the greatest and most wonderful similarities is that the church continues today, 2,000 years later, to be an enduring testimony to the grace of God. Whether it is Keystone Church or millions of other biblical churches across the globe, the continued existence and witness of the church is a testimony to the grace of God in the gospel. The gospel gives birth to the church and church exists to display and proclaim the gospel. This is what we find in Paul’s concluding chapter of his letter to the Corinthians and it’s what we continue to be called to live out today as a church.
